Laptop Improvisations May 2011

by Adrian Lane

Two improvised pieces inspired by trips to Japan and Korea (the cover photo was taken at a temple in Kamakura in Japan). Both pieces were improvised on a laptop using Abelton Live and a midi keyboard; produced in one take, throwing in samples live and playing sounds on the keyboard. The intention was not to create Korean or Japanese style music, rather to express my interest in East Asian cultures. The pieces do, however, include field recordings and percussion samples from those locations.
