"British artist Adrian Lane’s full album released by Polish label, Preserved Sound, has cinematic beautiful piano sounds and solemn but mysterious piano sounds which also remind us of Erik Satie. On top of those piano sounds, you’ll hear subtle strings, rough analogue-ish noise/ petit noise and sampling from field recording, which are combined into a subtle and profound post-classical sound.There are both nostalgic and heavy wistful atmosphere, and they add monochrome-sepia texture to this beautiful piano piece. 20 tracks, 43mins. "A work of melancholic minimal piano fragments. With this apt summary Adrian Lane describes 'Lights Are Very Deceptive At Night', a work that marks the final stage of the research he conducted into the potential of fragile piano harmonies to create a universe of moving suggestions. Working in gaps between the notes, the English composer does not just fill them with electronic debris and occasional movements of strings, but exploits the gaps to give depth and perspective specific weight to each single note. The 20 short sketches are well-designed in this way, with simple naturalness, a path of engaging pathos piano."
